Behaviour Revokes TheBurntPeanut’s Gifted Dead by Daylight DLC

Behaviour has reversed the streamer giveaway and announced changes to creator approvals after acknowledging failures in its handling of community concerns.

TheBurntPeanut’s gifted Dead by Daylight content has been removed, closing the question Behaviour’s first apology left open. The developer now faces a longer task: explaining how its creator partnerships will be approved and how staff will respond when players raise concerns.

In its November 3 follow-up, reported by Dexerto, Behaviour said the giveaway happened before the usual checks and team discussions. It is rewriting its creator guidelines and approval procedures.

How the giveaway became a community dispute

The original grant gave the streamer access to DLC characters and perks during a Halloween-weekend broadcast. The official account’s response to the prospect of criticism made the situation worse. Players objected both to the choice of creator and to the way their concerns were dismissed.

Behaviour’s November 1 apology, also reproduced by Shacknews, acknowledged that the content and currency were granted without appropriate approval. It said creator unlocks can be a normal introduction to the game, but staff should have investigated the concerns raised during the stream. The statement also condemned threats against employees.

Why the unlock mattered to players

A broad character unlock changes what someone can play. Killers have different powers, and character perks contribute to the builds players assemble. Behaviour’s progression explanation describes how prestige and the Shrine of Secrets distribute perks across a roster.

That makes creator access useful for showing newcomers the game’s variety. It also makes the terms of that access important to an audience that has spent time and money building a collection. A temporary demonstration account, a review code and permanent ownership create different expectations.

The next test is the approval process

The follow-up addresses both the grant and the response around it. Behaviour says its revised procedures will include checks on creators, clearer authorization and staff training. The removal has happened; the effectiveness of those procedures will become visible through later partnerships.

The studio has said internal personnel matters will remain confidential. There is no published disciplinary outcome to report, and the available statements do not provide an itemized valuation of the original gift.

VGC’s November 3 coverage also records the studio’s acknowledgement that its official account escalated the dispute. That response matters to existing creators as well as the streamer: the account represents the publisher, so its messages set expectations for how criticism will be handled during future promotions.

The revised rules will address who can authorize content grants and how staff communicate those decisions publicly.
