Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 Adds Dual Wielding as NightCoop Beta Status Remains Unclear
CD Projekt's Edgerunners 2 update brings new combat and customization options. NightCoop's download page still labels its build listings as demo data.
Cyberpunk 2077 players can equip two pistols or revolvers and visit new cosmetic cyberware vendors in Update 2.5. Alongside the official release, the fan-made NightCoop project is advertising an eight-player campaign, though its download listings carry a demo-data warning.
CD Projekt’s October 22 launch notice confirms the Edgerunners 2 update. The separate NightCoop download page says the entries show how the page will look after builds are released and that no files sit behind those links.

New combat, cyberware styles and anime content
CD Projekt’s feature breakdown lists anime-linked content, cosmetic cyberware customization through Glamdocs, dual wielding, and mod.io integration. NightCoop remains a separate unofficial fan project.
The two official pages differ in their wording about Switch 2 availability. Players should use their platform’s current update listing and the detailed patch notes rather than assume every storefront received the same rollout at the same time.
What NightCoop is advertising
The advertised player count describes the project’s intended co-op experience. A downloadable build, supported game version and installation documentation would let players assess that experience. Anyone following the project should keep a separate save backup before trying a future release.
What returning players can use in the update
The publisher describes dual wielding as a new playstyle involving two pistols or revolvers and dedicated perks and abilities. That affects how a player builds and uses a character. Glamdocs serve a different purpose: they offer cosmetic cyberware styles and customization. A visual change to cyberware should not be confused with adding a new combat ability.
The anime-linked content is another separate part of the package. CD Projekt’s feature page describes a quest connected to Edgerunners 2, themed equipment, and music. Players interested in that material have a concrete reason to inspect the official update without needing an experimental multiplayer project to be available.
The official FAQ says the update is free for base-game owners and does not require Phantom Liberty or a new save. Those are useful purchase and progress details. They should be checked against the platform-specific release information where the publisher’s rollout pages use different wording.
How mod.io fits into the update
Official mod.io integration provides an in-game way to find and distribute supported modifications. Campaign co-op involves additional work on quest state, dialogue, combat and connections between players. The update’s mod browser therefore does not establish that NightCoop is available, compatible or endorsed by CD Projekt.
